WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) today received a perfect rating and was named a Defender of Liberty by the American Conservative Union’s 2009 Congressional Ratings. The award is presented annually to Members of Congress who consistently hold a conservative voting record.
“I am honored to receive the Defender of Liberty Award from the American Conservative Union," said Inhofe. “Holding to the conservative principles of limited government, restrained spending, and a strong national defense is as important now as it ever has been. Every sector of our nation’s society and economy has been faced with a liberal onslaught over the last year, and the American people are resoundingly rejecting that approach.”
ACU Chairman David Keene said, “This Defender of Liberty award is a reflection of Senator Jim Inhofe’s outstanding record in support of conservative principles on a wide range of issues of concern to grass roots conservatives in 2009 and someone to whom conservatives can turn to for leadership. At a challenging time when the fundamental principles on which the American system of government are being challenged, Senator Jim Inhofe stands with those who are trying to preserve those principles.”
