U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) voted today against Democrat efforts that would have overturned President Trump’s guidance giving states more flexibility to offer affordable health insurance.
“Time and time again, Democrats have shown that they care more about attacking President Trump than they do about American families. The latest example: they want to overturn guidance that helps drive down the cost of health insurance. Again – they want to undo guidance that actually reduces costs of health care.
“Obamacare was a complete failure. It drove up the cost of premiums by 227 percent for families in Oklahoma since 2014 and failed to provide choices—pushing everyone to an expensive, ‘one-size-fits-all’ health care system. President Trump and Senate Republicans are taking real steps to lower the cost of health care. One big way was creating guidance to give states more flexibility to provide better coverage and lower costs of premiums based on their unique circumstances, while maintaining strong protections for pre-existing conditions.
“We need to keep these innovation waivers in place – not let Democrats undo them in their effort to force us into the $30 trillion dollar ‘Medicaid for All’.”
