Law enforcement leaders praised Sen. Inhofe for introducing the Keep Our Communities Safe Act, legislation that would close the legal loophole that requires immigration authorities to release back into the United States illegal aliens who have not been accepted for deportation to other countries after being detained for six months; a practice also referred to as "catch and release."

“I am grateful for Sen. Inhofe’s leadership on the Keep our Communities Safe Act,” said Sheriff Chris West, Canadian County, Okla. “It’s frustrating—not to mention dangerous—for law enforcement to see criminals back on the streets time and time again. Senator Inhofe’s legislation will make our communities safer by closing these loopholes.”
“Sen. Inhofe has long been a champion in Congress of those measures that will help to increase the safety and security of our communities,” said Luke Sherman, Chairman of the National Tactical Officers Association. “The Keep Our Communities Safe Act is yet another example of the type of measure supported by Sen. Inhofe that will serve to bolster the continued efforts to keep our communities safe”
