U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) made the following statement after the Senate passed legislation to undo an overstep by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) to regulate car loans issued at auto dealerships:
“Obama’s administration was all about expanding the size and scope of federal bureaucracy. From the creation of a National School Board to the unaccountable CFPB, we saw the federal government handed authority in areas where it was not prescribed in law. Right-sizing the federal government by cutting red tape has reinvigorated the American economy, leading to economic growth and job creation. Today’s passage of the disapproval resolution will roll back another Obama-era rule that expanded the jurisdiction of the CFPB well beyond its authority. I am pleased to support this legislation that will provide stability in the automobile industry, especially to dealers, lowering costs for all consumers.”
