WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.), a senior member of the Senate Armed Services Committee (SASC), today congratulated the B-1 System Program Office from Tinker Air Force Base (AFB) and William Barnes, the Deputy Chief of the B-1 System Program Office, for receiving the Air Staff-level award for the most improved aircraft maintenance and logistics readiness performance. In conjunction with this award, Barnes also received the Dr. James G. Roche Sustainment Excellence award.
The Air Staff-level award recognized the B-1 System Program Office in Tinker AFB for increasing their B-1 Lancer warfighter fleet availability by 10 percent during Fiscal Year 2011 (FY11). This increase created the highest B-1 availability rate in the last four years.
“Congratulations to William Barnes and Tinker’s B-1 System Program Office for a job well done,” said Inhofe. “For years, the B-1 Lancer has repeatedly proven itself by deterring would-be adversaries and projecting combat airpower. This award represents Tinker AFB’s lasting commitment to maintaining the long-term readiness and combat effectiveness of the B-1. I applaud the entire B-1 System Program Office for their service, professionalism, and dedication.”
