U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.), chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, made the following statement after the U.S. Army appointed Mike Brown as a Civilian Aide to the Secretary of the Army:
“Mike has served Oklahoma and Lawton Fort Sill for over 30 years, and is an excellent choice for Civilian Aide to the Secretary of the Army. I congratulate him on his appointment.
“In his most recent position as Mayor Pro Tempore for the City of Lawton, Mike forged lasting relationships with leaders throughout the city and state. He has a personal interest in both the welfare of the Army and his community, and there is no one more qualified than Mike for this important position. I look forward to working with him in this new position to support military families.”
Mike has been an integral part the Lawton Fort Sill community since 1984, serving on the Lawton City Council, as president and life member of the U.S. Army Association, chairman of the Lawton Fort Sill Chamber of Commerce and most recently as Lawton Mayor Pro Tempore. Among a number of other accolades, Mike has been inducted into the Honorable Order of St. Barbara-Fort Sill and received the Reuben Brown Award for outstanding civic leadership. He received his Bachelors of Science from Oklahoma State University, where he was a Presidential Leadership Scholar.
