WASHINGTON – U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) congratulated Shawn Sheehan of Norman for being recognized today at a White House ceremony for being one of four finalists for Teacher of the Year. Sheehan teaches special education and Algebra I at Norman High School and was awarded State Teacher of the Year for Oklahoma in August 2015.
“Shawn Sheehan has made Oklahoma proud for the national recognition he has received for his dedicated service to the Norman community and its high school students,” said Inhofe. “His passion to lead by example for his students and to recruit and retain talented teachers is exactly what our public education system needs. Congratulations to Shawn for being a finalist for teacher of the year as you continue to inspire your students and expose them to endless opportunities through the power of knowledge.”
As Oklahoma Teacher of the Year, Sheehan received an official Teacher of the Year car for a year and has been serving as Oklahoma’s teacher ambassador. More information can be read by clicking here.
