Inhofe, Enzi Introduce Resolution Recognizing U.S. Partnership with Ethiopia

WASHINGTON – U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) and Sen. Mike Enzi (R-Wyo.) introduced a resolution today recognizing the important and vital partnership between the United States and the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia:

“Ethiopia is a strategic partner for the United States in East Africa,” Inhofe said. “We have a long and respected history of working together to promote peace and stability throughout the region. As Ethiopia continues to improve its governance as a growing power in the region, it is appropriate for us to reaffirm our security commitment to Ethiopia with training and assistance to counter terrorism and violent extremism throughout Africa.”

“Our vital strategic partnership with Ethiopia is grounded in a long history of cooperation,” Enzi said. “It is important, as Ethiopia continues to play an essential role in the peace and stability of the region, we reaffirm our security commitments and will continue to work with our partner to promote the values of peace and democracy.”
