U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) expressed his disappointment today after the Supreme Court decided the important abortion case June Medical Services LLC v. Russo. This decision overturns a Louisiana law placing common sense health guidelines on abortion providers by requiring doctors performing abortions to have admitting privileges at nearby hospitals.
“I was shocked and extremely disappointed by the Supreme Court’s flawed decision today,” Inhofe said. “The Louisiana passed law would have held abortion providers to commonsense standards already applied to physicians in multiple other practice areas. Instead, the Supreme Court chose to take an activist approach – ruling against the ability of states to protect women’s health and safety. I am deeply saddened by their decision and I vow to continue to fight for the right to life, even if they will not.”
Inhofe joined over 200 other Senators and Members of Congress on an amicus brief last year supporting the Louisiana law.
