WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) today received the Champion of the Merit Shop Award from the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC), a national association that represents our nation’s business communities and construction industries.
“I am honored to receive this award from the ABC,” said Inhofe. “I value the leadership of ABC to communities throughout the nation and their continued advocacy for free enterprise. Their merit shop philosophy makes ABC the premiere voice in the construction industry as it spurs open competition in the marketplace and job creation. Government should look for ways to promote job creation, not stifle it with over-regulation.”
“It is an honor to recognize Senator Inhofe for his voting record on issues we feel to be the most significant to the commercial and industrial construction industry,” said 2011 ABC National Chairman Michael J. Uremovich. “This award gives us an opportunity to positively acknowledge his commitment and support of the merit shop philosophy. Inhofe has been a strong advocate for the principles of free enterprise, limited government, individual liberty and personal responsibility. We are thankful for all his efforts on behalf of the more than 23,000 merit shop construction contractors that work and live in Oklahoma, and across the nation.”
