WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) yesterday was awarded the 2013 Congressional Leadership award from the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) for promoting policies and legislation that advance domestic and international economic development.
“I have long believed that the key to building a strong economy must involve less federal regulations, a well-supported transportation infrastructure, and a strong national defense,” said Inhofe. “It is an honor to be recognized with the IEDC's leadership award and to be nominated by Roy Williams of the Greater Oklahoma City Chamber. I will continue to put forward and support free-market solutions as we work to stabilize our economy and expand opportunities for all Americans.”
President and CEO of the Greater Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce, Roy Williams added, “Oklahoma is so fortunate to have in its senior Senator an individual who lives and breathes economic development every day. Sen. Inhofe has been a leader for developing our nation’s transportation infrastructure, which is so critical to business growth; for supporting our nation’s military, which is so important to communities across the country; and to the continued leadership of the Economic Development Administration. He is not just a friend to Oklahoma, but to every economic developer in the nation.”
