Inhofe Honors Fallen Service Members on Memorial Day

WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.), ranking member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, today made the following statement on Memorial Day 2013 to honor the members of the U.S. Armed Forces who have given their life to ensure the safety and protection of the United State of America.

"Our nation's sons and daughters continue to volunteer in the Armed Forces in order to ensure the freedom, liberty, safety and security of Americans at home and abroad. Our service members are constantly overcoming the challenges and fulfilling the missions with which they are entrusted. But we must not forget that tragedy comes with service and today we honor the members of the Armed Forces who have paid the ultimate sacrifice by giving their lives to protect American's and our allies throughout the world.
“As we gather with friends and family members on this holiday, do not lose sight of why we celebrate and continue to pay tribute to the men and women who answer the call each day to defend the United States. God bless the members of our Armed Forces and their families and God Bless the United States of America.”
