WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) today introduced legislation S.1877 to require a special prosecutor to be appointed by the DC Circuit Court of Appeals for the purpose of investigating Planned Parenthood’s alleged violation of federal law, including changing or delaying abortion procedures for the sole purpose of harvesting fetal tissue and selling fetal tissue for profit. The legislation would also rescind federal funding to Planned Parenthood as a means to pay for this special investigation and would also authorize the investigation of any other organization that funds or conducts abortions.
“There are now three egregious videos exposing Planned Parenthood’s casual disregard of human life, the latest one showing unborn body parts being priced for sale. We need to do more than just defund Planned Parenthood; it’s time they are investigated. It’s easy for the organization to make verbal claims they have not participated in illegal activity, but it’s time to put their feet to the fire as to whether they broke the law by adjusting abortion procedures to harvest fetal tissue and organs. Our nation should not be condoning the act of killing our own children or allowing these corrupt organizations to put women’s health in danger. S.1877 would not only defund Planned Parenthood, but it would also investigate the organization so that justice can be served for breaking the law in their handling of women’s health and the lives of the unborn.”
Planned Parenthood receives roughly $1.4 million tax payer dollars every day according to their 2013-2014 annual report.
