Inhofe Praises EPA for Granting SREs

U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) praised the EPA for granting 31 small refinery exemptions (SRE) in accordance with the law on Friday. These exemptions help small, local refiners deal with outdated, burdensome regulations under the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS).  Furthermore studies done by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign show that retroactive SREs do not harm ethanol and demand has remained at an all-time high.

“I’m pleased that President Trump and Administrator Wheeler are standing with all Americans who appreciate lower gas prices and energy costs. It’s because of smart action like this that we’re continuing down the road to energy dominance.”

Background:

In June, Inhofe, joined by 12 of his colleagues, authored a letter to President Trump urging him to grant SREs.  Inhofe also authored an op-ed in July to highlight the importance of granting SREs.
