Designation will provide wildfire relief
U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) thanked President Trump for granting Oklahoma a disaster declaration in response to the wildfires from April 11 to April 20, 2018. The declaration will provide federal assistance and support local recovery efforts. It will also ensure that local emergency responders are eligible to receive cost-sharing benefits for their work during the fires.
“By declaring a federal disaster declaration, President Trump is making it possible for Oklahoma’s farmers and ranchers to access all federal resources available to assist in wildfire recovery efforts. Northwest Oklahoma has faced devastating losses – nearly 350,000 acres burned—affecting the livelihood of hundreds of individuals. This declaration will help Oklahoma’s agriculture industry to rebuild and support local emergency response efforts.”
