U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe was recognized at the annual awards dinner by the Weyrich Lunch and Coalitions for America last week. Honoring the legacy of Paul Weyrich, the awards committee presented Sen. Inhofe their highest award, the Paul Weyrich Enduring Impact Award in recognition of his conservative leadership and steadfast principles.
“Paul Weyrich was a good friend, not only to me, but to everyone who fights for conservative principles,” Inhofe said. “He showed the value of working as a conservative coalition—bringing everyone together to promote the value of limited government and expanded freedom. I am humbled to receive this award in his memory and this recognition is one I will cherish. I look forward to continuing to promote conservative values in the Senate.”
"As a board member of Coalitions for America and a fellow Oklahoman, I am thrilled we were able to pay tribute to Sen. Inhofe,” said Cleta Mitchell. “I've known Jim for more than 40 years. He is a wonderful person, a solid Conservative, a faithful Christian and a true leader in both his private and public life on all of the values we hold dear. I'm so proud to call him my Senator and my friend. Without Sen Inhofe's steadfast support, the weekly Weyrich lunches would not have been able to continue these past 9 years since Paul's death. It is just one more way in which Sen. Inhofe's humble and devoted service has been instrumental in promoting our shared beliefs and principles. He is truly a remarkable man."
Past recipients of the Paul Weyrich Enduring Impact Award include Attorney General Edwin Meese and Phyllis Schafly.
