Inhofe, Senators Release Statement Upon Visiting Moldova

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sens. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.), ranking member of the Senate Armed Services Committee (SASC), Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.), Deb Fischer (R-Neb.), John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) and Tim Scott (R-S.C.), today released the following joint statement after a congressional delegation visit to the eastern European country of Moldova Monday afternoon:

“We came here today to show our support for you, the people of Moldova, at this very difficult time.  Before coming to Moldova, a resolution was introduced in the U.S. Senate expressing solidarity with Moldova and support for its sovereignty and territorial integrity.  We want our government to continue the financial support we have provided and to increase support in other ways, such as by increasing military ties through the Individual Military Education Training (IMET), Foreign Military Financing (FMF), and Foreign Military Sales (FMS) programs.  Your government is about to take a very brave step to help secure your future economic development by signing the association agreement with the European Union.  We applaud this action and encourage you to continue forward on this path.”

On April 3, in response to regional aggression from Russia, Inhofe introduced S. Res. 411, supporting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Moldova.
