WASHINGTON – U.S. Sen Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) today released a statement in support of President-elect Trump's announcement of his intention to nominate retired Marine Gen. James N. Mattis as secretary of defense.

“Our country is being confronted with more threats than I have seen in my lifetime,” Inhofe said. “This demands strong U.S. leadership and I believe that Jim Mattis can provide that leadership for the Department of Defense. I have great respect for retired General Mattis and the candor, honesty, expertise and leadership he has provided this nation. I support his nomination.”
