Inhofe Statement on Independence Day

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.), ranking member of the Senate Armed Services Committee (SASC), today made the following statement in honor of Independence Day:

“On this Independence Day, let us set aside our partisan grievances and pay tribute to the patriots who stood strong for the beliefs of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness and declared independence from the British to form these United States of America. Independence was a gradual and painful process, but the resounding courage and determination of our founders prevailed and laid the foundation of what would become the greatest country in the world.

“But in the midst of the fireworks and festivities, we must not forget the patriots at home and abroad who continue to fight for and protect the individual rights that our Founding Fathers dreamed of and fought for not so long ago. As we gather with friends and family for picnics and parades to celebrate our American Independence, let us respectfully honor the men and women from the past to the present who established our great country and those who continue to fight for it. God Bless the United States Of America.”
