U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.), made the following statement following the announcement that Supreme Court Associate Justice Anthony Kennedy will retire from the Court on July 31, 2018:
“For more than four decades, Justice Kennedy has served the federal court honorably and I wish him and his family well in retirement.
“This week’s 5-4 decisions only highlight the importance of selecting and confirming justices who adhere to the Constitution and do not legislate from the bench. I am confident that President Trump will submit a highly-qualified nominee who will respect judicial restraint. I look forward to a swift and fair Senate confirmation for Justice Kennedy’s successor.”
