WASHINGTON – U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) issued the following statement after state media in North Korea claimed they had successfully tested a thermonuclear weapon:
"North Korea's latest reported testing of a hydrogen bomb is an unacceptable provocation as the rogue regime continues their reckless aggression towards the United States and our allies. Today's test—reportedly seven times stronger than the bomb dropped on Hiroshima—makes it clear that they are the most imminent threat we face.
"This most recent apparent nuclear test stresses the need for the United States to enhance and accelerate our ballistic missile defense systems and to continue to put pressure on North Korea through the diplomatic, economic, and military channels."
