Inhofe Statement on Passage of Iran Nuclear Agreement Review Act

WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.), senior member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, praised Senate passage of the Iran Nuclear Agreement Review Act, which received a strong bipartisan vote of 98 to 1.

“The Senate voted overwhelmingly to give Americans a voice in the president’s nuclear arms agreement he is currently seeking with Iran,” said Inhofe. “The United States cannot afford to play games with a country that sponsors terrorism and has publicly stated its intent to wipe out Israel and has called for the ‘death to America.’ Furthermore, the U.S.-Iran deal has the potential to put the world on the brink of a dangerous nuclear arms race at a time where we face historic instability. It is in the best interest of this country, and its people, that an agreement with Iran on nuclear weapons is approved by Congress. With passage of the Iran Nuclear Agreement Review Act, the Senate is holding the president accountable and is standing ready to rapidly restore sanctions should Iran violate any terms of a Congressionally-approved deal.”
