Inhofe Statement on President’s Immigration Announcement

WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.), today released the following statement in response to President Obama’s announcement that he will take administrative action to make immigration reforms without congress:

"The President came out today and blamed Congress, specifically the Republican-led House, for the current crisis at our border. In doing so, he ignores the fact that it is his policies that have created the situation. His announcement today to take immigration reform into his own hands is not anything new. He has been making changes to our immigration system without Congress throughout his presidency. In 2012, he skirted Congress and implemented his Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program. Now unaccompanied children  are flooding our borders in hope of receiving amnesty, putting their lives in danger with human traffickers and breaking apart family units. The president needs to start by enforcing the current immigration laws and working with Congress to better secure our borders.”
