U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) made the following statement after Democrats blocked a vote to consider legislation that would end taxpayer-funded abortion. The No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act would have established a government-wide statutory prohibition on taxpayer subsidies for abortion and abortion coverage. This legislation also prohibits subsidies in the form of refundable advanceable tax credits for abortion coverage through the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) and codifies an annual renewed appropriations policy providing conscience protections.
“The Democrats choose convenience over the God-given right to life and their decision to block the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act proves that yet again,” Sen. Inhofe said. “Though the fight to end abortion may feel like an uphill battle, I want everyone who marches for life, not just this week, but every day here in Washington and around America, to know your dedication and fortitude will prevail. You may rest assured that I, and so many of my colleagues, will never give up on the fight. I believe, as you do, that the right to life of each human being—especially the unborn—is to be preserved and protected. The right to life is undeniable and every child is a blessing.”
