Inhofe Statement on Senate Passage of Taiwan Travel Act

U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.), co-chairman of the Senate Taiwan Caucus, praised the Senate for passing the Taiwan Travel Act:

Just last week I was in Taiwan, where I visited with President Tsai, Foreign Minister Lee, Defense Minister Shih-kuan, and other military leaders. During the meetings, we were able to candidly discuss the growing threat communist China and North Korea pose to East Asia. The Taiwan Travel Act will encourage similar meetings between high-level American and Taiwanese officials that will remain extremely valuable, especially as China continues their unprecedented reclamation in the South China Sea. Once signed by the president, this legislation will be an important tool as we continue to ensure Taiwan has the ability to defend itself and remains a committed U.S. partner in the region.”
