WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.), a senior member of the Senate Armed Services Committee (SASC), today during a SASC hearing to address issues related to U.S. European Command (EUCOM), U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM), and Joint Forces Command (JFCOM) stressed the importance of supporting the commander’s priorities.

Inhofe said, “Providing for our national security is my number one priority.  We must provide our military with adequate funding to develop new weapon systems and ensure the training they receive is realistic and immersive.  I firmly believe that Gen. Mattis’s emphasis on virtual immersion training will increase the survivability and effectiveness of our forces.   I am very proud that Oklahoma is doing just this, as yesterday Ft. Sill held the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Joint Fires and Effects Training System.”

Inhofe continued, “Our support of our military does not stop at domestic training.  Our nation must continue to support EUCOM and AFRICOM in order to combat the transit of extremists, stop piracy, and build security capacity.”
