WASHINGTON — U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.), today praised the Senate passage of the Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act (CARA), which passed by a vote of 94 to 1.
“The abuse of prescription drugs and heroin is taking a serious toll on families across this nation,” Inhofe said. “In Oklahoma, prescription painkillers are linked to more overdoses than any other drug and our state leads the nation in painkiller abuse and sales. By providing new grant opportunities to first responders and to those who provide life-saving services to people struggling with addiction, we have the chance to save lives and help heal those that need it most.”
