WASHINGTON – Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) made the following statement after supporting H.R. 601, legislation to provide disaster relief funding for Hurricane Harvey recovery efforts:
“The effects of Hurricane Harvey continue to be devastating for our neighbors in Texas. The long process of rebuilding the communities, infrastructure and economy of the region has only just begun and we must ensure that federal agencies involved in the recovery effort have the resources they need to support the region’s rebuilding. As we prepare for yet another horrific storm, today’s vote will also enable FEMA to proactively respond to future natural disasters.
“As Oklahomans, we know firsthand the devastation caused by natural disasters and the important role FEMA plays in getting communities back on their feet. Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with Texas and Louisiana.”
