INHOFE SUPPORTS SHORT TERM GOVERNMENT FUNDING EXTENSION THAT INCLUDES CUTS

WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.), a leading Senate conservative, today made the following statement after the U.S. Senate passed a two-week continuing resolution to fund the federal government by a vote of 91-9. The resolution was passed yesterday by the House of Representatives and will cut $4 billion in spending:

“No one wanted a government shutdown.  This short term extension buys time for Congress to do the responsible thing – pass a long-term measure that cuts federal spending.  The temporary measure cuts $4 billion in unnecessary government spending. In the coming weeks, I look forward to diligently working with my colleagues to pass a fiscally responsible budget.”
