U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) met with members of the Lawton Chamber of Commerce and Fort Sill community today in Washington. They discussed current legislative priorities, specifically infrastructure and national defense.

“I always value visiting with the Lawton community in Washington, and it’s so valuable that they make the trip here each year,” Inhofe said. “We had a meaningful conversation about deregulation, the benefits of tax reform and how President Trump’s infrastructure initiative will benefit Lawton. I am proud that the Trump Administration is finally prioritizing national defense in the way it needs to be; the Obama Administration completely neglected it.  Ft. Sill’s Fires Center of Excellence will play a crucial role in the Army’s ongoing modernization efforts. Lawton’s community support for Ft. Sill is one of the base’s greatest strengths, and our shared commitment to preventing a Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) round in the next National Defense Authorization Act will ensure Ft. Sill’s ongoing importance to the Army.”
