WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) today voted against the nomination of Sylvia Mathews Burwell to be secretary of the Health and Human Services (HHS). Burwell was confirmed by a Senate vote of 78-17.
"Just like the Department of Veterans Affairs, the President cannot fix the fundamental, systematic flaws of ObamaCare by simply replacing the person in charge. In light of the disastrous roll-out of ObamaCare, the new nominee to lead HHS should be someone who can work with Members of Congress to address our constituents’ concerns and help put real reforms in place that make health care responsive to families’ needs. It is no surprise that less than 70,000 Oklahomans have enrolled in ObamaCare, despite a projection of 256,000 enrollees. Ms. Burwell’s support of this broken healthcare law led to me opposing her nomination.”
