Inhofe Votes to Add North Macedonia to NATO

U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.), chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, today voted for Treaties Calendar #5, Treaty Document #116-1, Protocol to the North Atlantic Treaty of 1949 on the Accession of the Republic of North Macedonia, which adds North Macedonia to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) as a member state. The legislation passed by a vote of 91-2.

“Expanding and strengthening our alliances, like those with NATO countries, is key to our national security. I look forward to welcoming North Macedonia into NATO as a member and ally. I commend Prime Minister Zaev for resolving the naming dispute to pave the way for this to happen, and I urge other NATO partners to complete the ratification process quickly," Inhofe said.
