WASHINGTON — U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) today voted to confirm Gov. Sonny Perdue as secretary of agriculture and released the following statement. He was confirmed by a vote of 87-11.
“I am proud to vote for my friend, Sonny Perdue, to be the secretary of agriculture. Agriculture is a vibrant cornerstone of the Oklahoma economy, and Governor Perdue understands this firsthand. Last month Gov. Perdue and I discussed Oklahoma’s agriculture priorities, including crop insurance, agriculture exports, and the rural utilities service. Sonny fully appreciates Oklahoma’s agricultural needs, and his background in agribusiness and as governor of Georgia will serve him well in this position. I look forward to working with him as he leads and reforms the USDA.”
