WASHINGTON — U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.), senior member of the Senate Environment and Public Works (EPW) Committee, voted today to confirm Kristine Svinicki to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) for a third term. She has served as the commission’s chair since January. She was confirmed by a vote of 88-9.
“Kristine Svinicki has fought alongside me against overregulation of the nuclear industry,” Inhofe said. “Time after time, Kristine has testified before the Senate EPW Committee and I am consistently impressed by her wealth of knowledge and her responsiveness to Congress. With her term expiring at the end of the month and the only remaining Republican on the commission, the Senate was right to move quickly on her confirmation. I hope the Senate moves in a similar fashion on Annie Caputo’s and David Wright’s NRC nominations.”
