WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) a senior member of the Environment and Public Works (EPW) Committee, today issued the following statement in response to the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) announcement to move forward with implementing Tier 3 regulations:
“I remain concerned that the EPA's overly stringent requirements will impact prices at the pump for hardworking Americans,” said Inhofe. “I look forward to discussing EPA's adverse posture towards fossil fuels with nominee Gina McCarthy as the country transitions away from our dependence on foreign sources of energy. I believe it is possible to simultaneously protect the public interest, while instituting common sense regulations on the sources of energy generation that powers this machine called America--unfortunately it seems our president does not share this vision."
On February 4 2013, Inhofe joined ranking member Sen. David Vitter (R-La.) and Sens. Heidi Heitkamp (D- N.D.), John Hoeven (R-N.D.) and Mary Landrieu (D- La.) in sending a letter asking President Obama to suspend the EPA’s efforts to implement Tier 3 regulations.
