SASC Chairman Inhofe Applauds Senate Confirmation of Air Force Secretary

After the Senate voted today to confirm Barbara Barrett as Secretary of the Air Force by a vote of 85-7, U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.), chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, released the following statement:

“Ms. Barrett will serve as the civilian head at the Air Force at a pivotal time for our military. We need to modernize and innovate if we want to keep up with China and Russia, and this is especially important if we want to maintain air and space supremacy. At her nomination hearing, Ms. Barrett demonstrated she shares these priorities, understands the challenges we face and is prepared to tackle these issues head-on. She has also committed to fixing the problems with privatized military housing at Tinker and restoring the trust of our military families there — and she understands the urgency of accomplishing this objective swiftly. I look forward to seeing what she accomplishes in her new role, and I thank the Senate for acting quickly so she can get started.”
