Today after the Senate Armed Services Committee voted to advance the nomination of David Norquist to be Deputy Secretary of Defense, U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.), chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, released the following statement:

“As we implement the National Defense Strategy and prepare our military for the future, we’ll rely on civilian leadership to make tough decisions, prioritize threats appropriately, and manage the Pentagon effectively. I’ve said for a while now that David Norquist is the right choice for Deputy Secretary of Defense. He’s got the know-how and management skills needed in this important role,” Inhofe said. “With so many critical vacancies at the Department of Defense, I’m glad the committee is moving quickly on these nominations, and I look forward to voting on Mr. Norquist’s nomination on the Senate floor as soon as possible.”
